NORTH HAVEN, CT — A shipping employee is accused of rerouting packages and selling them online or keeping them for herself, according to police. Rosa Velazquez, 24, of New Haven, was arrested Thursday on a warrant in connection with an investigation that began last year. In May 2020, North Haven police responded to a State Street business involved in package/shipment fulfillment, according to officials. "It was being reported a package originally en-route to Australia was suspected of being re-routed by an employee, to a local area address," police wrote in a post on Facebook. "The investigation revealed 18 separate shipments redirected by an employee of the business, getting re-routed to a local address, instead of its true destination. The items were then sold online or kept for personal use." Velazquez was charged with fourth-degree larceny, fifth-degree larceny and two counts of sixth-degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in court. To sign up for North Haven breaking news alerts and more, click here.
