Description
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Janet is a cat at the Fredericksburg SPCA, but she is ready to find a forever home.
Janet is an expert in many crafts, according to the Fredericksburg SPCA. She is a world-class biscuit maker, a welcoming committee extraordinaire, and a champion at dinnertime.
"Miss Janet is a true socialite," the SPCA said. "She is as sweet as can be, so be ready to make fast friends." The SPCA noted that Janet would do well in a home with other cats.
Janet is a premier nap-taker, as well. If there is a soft blanket in your home, she'll find it for her afternoon naps. Although, she also enjoys taking naps with people.
Janet has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Disorder, or FIV. "Cats with FIV should be taken care of just like any other cat, live indoors and stay up to date on their vaccines and preventatives," the SPCA said.
It is common for cats with FIV to be totally asymptomatic and live normal lifespans, according to Cornell University. The virus does not appear to be spread between cats through behaviors like grooming or sharing a water bowl, the university said.
Since Janet tested positive for FIV, her adoption fee has been waived. "We do not believe that should be a barrier to her finding a wonderful home," the SPCA said.
More information about Janet and the adoption process is available on the SPCA's website. Anyone interested in meeting Janet can also email [email protected].
