Description
When the pandemic hit I lost my job and the unemployment office was to screwed up to pay me so I took a warehouse job at Amazon. I had no experience and started with above the standard warehouse wage. They were already practicing safe distancing, masks and temperatures. For two months we got an extra $2/ hr hazard pay. A month after that stopped, We all got a $500 bonus. I Also reviewed very affordable, quality health insurance, decent dental and free life insurance. A month later, we all got a $300 bonus. My paid sick, personal and vacation days were piling up.
The work was physical and fast paced, like all warehouses but management was accommodating to personal needs. More chances to advance than anywhere else I ever worked. A few more raises and another $150 bonus in December was welcome. Not only did Amazon help me survive financially, I was extremely thankful to have something to do during shut downs. Free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, occasional donuts, lunches, pizza, etc, face masks, T-shirt’s, shoes. yes shoes free!
When m former employee called me back I seriously considered staying at Amazon
From my experience and my former Amazon coworkers, we were treated much better that most other employers.
