HOBOKEN, NJ — Summer is just around the corner, and you may be planning now to find activities to keep the kids busy — and cool. An obvious summer favorite pastime is spending those hot afternoons at an area pool. The state recently issued guidance for pools to follow, so they can safely operate during the coronavirus pandemic. So where near Hoboken can you take a dip? We've compiled this guide of local pools to help you and your family stay cool this summer. Note that Hoboken does not have its own pool complex, but over the years, residents have tried the various pools in Union City (where one does not need to be a member), Jersey City, Secaucus, and North Bergen. As COVID guidelines are changing, make sure to click the links below to find out whether the pools will admit non-residents this year, and their hours. In some past years, the Hoboken High School pool has been open for certain hours for local camps and for local children; the city said they did not have information yet on whether that will happen this year. If you know of a great spot we missed, share it in the comments or send an email. Union City Recreation Pools — Union City's pools may be among the best kept secret for families in the area. In past years, the pools have been open to any Hudson County resident. There are also two indoor pools. Read about the outdoor pools here. Read about the two indoor pool complexes here.
