JOLIET, IL — A 26-year-old Joliet man who visited the Harrah's Casino parking garage early Thursday morning to break into vehicles in hopes of stealing items of value from the victims was arrested by Joliet police on two counts of burglary to a motor vehicle and one count of criminal trespass, Joliet police announced.
Juan C. Sanchez, who lives in the apartment units in the 700 block of Second Avenue, was arrested at the downtown Joliet casino property around 2:20 a.m.
Sanchez was not at the casino to gamble, he was there to steal property, according to police.
"Officers responded to Harrah's Casino in reference for Sanchez being detained by Harrah's security after he was observed burglarizing vehicles in the Harrah's parking deck. Items taken from two vehicles were found upon search of Sanchez. Sanchez was placed into custody without incident," Joliet police announced.
Shortly after midnight Friday, Sanchez was freed from the Will County Jail after posting 10 percent of his $2,500 bail, jail logs show. This marked his fifth time in the Will County Jail for an arrest by the Joliet police since 2019.
