MARIETTA, GA — A white powder mailed in an envelope to the Cobb Superior Court Clerk's office has been tested and deemed not hazardous, according to Saba Long, a spokesperson for the Cobb County Sheriff's Office.
Turns out the white powder was actually powdered toothpaste.
The Cobb County Superior Court Clerk's office was evacuated around 11:15 a.m. Friday after staff became exposed to "a white powder found in a mailed envelope," the sheriff's office said.
Four people were exposed, and Long said all four appear to be okay as of Friday afternoon.
Streets surrounding the superior court, located at 70 Haynes Street, Suite 1021 in downtown Marietta, are still locked down but will reopen soon, Long said.
The Cobb County Sheriff's Office will conduct a follow-up investigation into the incident.
