Basic Function Provide all departments with necessary Safety/Security information and services. Keep records and enforce all UniSea rules and policies, reporting violations, as necessary. Essential Duties 1) Enforce UniSea, OSHA, ADOSH and other State and Federal agency requirements. Report violations to Safety/Security Specialist II. 2) Conduct patrols of all plants and housing facilities, keeping daily logs of activities and discrepancies. Writing incident reports and placing information into databases for later auditing. 3) Respond to requests for assistance from numerous sources, with a wide range of variety, from lockouts to medical emergencies, from inside and outside the company. 4) Staff dispensary on treatment days as necessary, providing pre-screening and completing proper sick call record. Provide transportation to the clinic or airport, as necessary. 5) Assist/perform investigations of accidents, treating injuries or illnesses injuries when they occur, providing accurate and detailed treatment reports and information, providing guidance to supervisors as needed. 6) Assist with oil spill and hazardous material releases, as necessary. Could be Incident Commander. Monitoring of air quality and advising proper procedures to be used. 7) Train employees in Forklift, Pallet Jack, or Rough Terrain vehicle operations. Conduct classes in LO/TO, Confined Space Entry, Safe Chemical Handling, with input from safety supervisor and manager. Assist in the development of new classes as the need is identified. 8) Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with company policy by closely monitoring the safe use of equipment and work habits in and around the work area. Responsible for staying abreast of current company policies as they relate to safety. 9) Become certified and perform pre-employment and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. Maintain strict confidentiality. Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Bilingual helpful. Experience: Minimum 0-to-1-year related safety experience, preferably in a manufacturing or seafood processing environment, or 0–1-year prior security experience. Working Conditions: Frequent (over 50 percent) exposure to undesirable elements with one continuously present. - UniSea provides free transportation to Dutch Harbor and return trip to Seattle after completion of seasonal contract. - Rate of pay - $12.36 per hour $18.54 Overtime rate of pay.
