Compensation: $14.93/hr For full job posting and to APPLY, please visit EdJoin: JOB DESCRIPTION -------------------------------------------------- DEFINITION: Under general supervision of the Director of MOT and immediate direction of an appropriate Supervisor or Lead Worker, performs work in the field of maintenance, operations, transportation, or grounds. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Performs duties of a custodian, cleans and maintains all floor surfaces, wall surfaces, windows and window coverings, furniture and woodwork. Empties and cleans waste receptacles. • Cleans and supplies restrooms. Makes non-technical repairs. • Takes responsibility for condition of cleaning equipment. • Sets up for special events or meetings. • Picks up outside litter. • Performs unskilled labor tasks under the immediate direction of a staff member in the field in the maintenance, operations, grounds or transportation departments. • Duties may include construction, repair, maintenance, groundskeeping, custodial, deliveries or other job fields. • Assignment fields and tasks will vary with the season, school schedules and needs of the district. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: • Modern cleaning methods. • Proper use of materials and equipment used in custodial, maintenance, groundskeeping and transportation. Ability to: • Learn quickly. • Work independently. • Carry out oral and written instructions. • Perform strenuous labor. • Readily adjust to assignments in different fields. • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationship with others. • Communicate in writing for the purposes of composing the required reports and other correspondence. • Read, write, and understand the English language. • Make simple mathematical calculations. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Education equivalent to 12th grade completion. • One year of experience in manual labor, preferably to include some custodial duties. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: • Valid California Driver's License. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: of this position are, but not limited to, the following: Ability to: • See for purposes of reading labels, custodial records and other printed matter. • Understand speech at normal levels in person or on the telephone. • Communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation in person or on the telephone. • Operate cleaning equipment and tools with dexterity. • Routinely lift/carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds and to occasionally lift/carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 75 pounds. • Adapt to indoor and outdoor working environments that include bending, crouching and kneeling, pushing/pulling of equipment and supplies. • Reach in all directions. • Stand and or walk for long periods of time. • Work on ladders. • Work with solvents, detergents, and other cleaning chemicals.
