Knife River is offering a Concrete Operations Internship position in Corvallis, the Mid-Willamette Valley of Oregon, where you can get hands on experience at our multiple ready-mix operations. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) • Be actively involved in production & quality teams. • Gain a working knowledge of Command Batch and other ready-mix specific systems. • Learn about the various materials used to produce concrete (Cement, SCM’s, Aggregates, etc.) • Learn how to build and test concrete mix designs in accordance with ACI, ASHTTO, and project specific specification’s • Concrete sampling and testing at the plant, job site and lab as required. • Dose admixtures/additives to concrete loads. • Track and evaluate mix design application and performance. • Solicit customer feedback about mix design performance. • Gain a working knowledge of ready-mix plant operation and maintenance. • Work with sales staff for market analysis, quoting and tracking of projects. • Provide verbal and written feedback to production, sales and QC staff. • Assist sales staff in resolving customer complaints and questions. • Develop a good working relationship with fellow team members, driver teams, customers and KRC contracting group. • Other duties assigned as needed. Minimum Qualifications: - Students must be working towards a Concrete/Construction Management or Engineering degree. - Must be able to follow directions, maintain work flow in areas of responsibility and handle difficult situations. - Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen. -Must be at least 18 years old. This is a paid seasonal intern position. Ideally, work will begin June 21st, 2021 and end September 17, 2021.
