Description

After Covid cancelled several festivals the Showmen were booked for last year and growing tired of managing a band for over forty years I figured the time had come for me to put my musical toys away. However, because my drummer has bugged me not to call it quits yet, coupled with several coincidences that occurred the past week wherein I received a handful of calls from promoters requesting the Showmen to perform at their events I am tinkering with the idea of re-starting the Showmen. However, before I commit to accept the gigs I want to ascertain if there are any musicians who reside in or very close to Riverside who play any of the instruments set forth in the posting title. Because the Showmen perform as a team, we train regularly, thus the reason I am seeking musicians who live near Riverside. I don’t want travel to be an impediment to attend training sessions to prepare for gigs. You must be proficient, preferably retired and don't rely on the money made from performances to pay your mortgage. Because a few of our gigs in areas like Vegas or Reno require us to perform for several days, if you are are still bogged down on a 9-5 job this project will probably not work for us, or you. The Showmen's genre is 50's rock, some rockabilly, some country blended with the California beach scene. Definitely not a surf type band but we do play some instrumentals from the 40's to early 60's to mix with vocals. We rarely play anything that was recorded after 1963 and focus on performing at rockabilly festivals and local community events. Most of the time we are paid, buy may perform pro bono on occasion, so, you have to be ready to volunteer. If what I posted sounds interesting, pick up your phone and call me.
