Craigslist is a business and they need to generate their revenue somehow. It makes sense to charge for their most used feature being vehicles. Not also to mention the major expense of having to host all sorts of images onto a server is quite hefty storage wise. You are most likely going to get a lot better of a buyer as well, versus free places such as Facebook Marketplace where most of their "consumer base" if you want to call it that are annoying window shoppers and lowballers. It takes more work to contact someone on an item on Craigslist so you are already getting an actual interested party. $5 for a vehicle posting on Craigslist is well worth it, and quite honestly fair.
