LOWELL, MA — The Lowell woman whose husband is accused of dousing her in gasoline and setting her on fire died of her injuries, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office confirmed. Celeste Marte-Lebron, 49 of Lowell, died April 20, the prosecutor's office said in a statement. An autopsy was performed and the cause and manner of her death are pending. Santos Lebron De Los Santo, 42, was arraigned in Lowell District Court April 2 on a charge of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury. Prosecutors said De Los Santos doused Marte-Lebron in gasoline while she was in the bathtub and used a lighter to ignite her. A woman passing by the Varnum Avenue home reported seeing a fire, and first responders found the victim with serious burns on most of her body. De Los Santo was held without bail.
