Description
NATICK, MA — The Natick Community Organic Farm's third annual (and second virtual) 5K fundraiser will be held in May to raise money for a scholarship program and operations.
Like many nonprofits that raise money through 5K races, the farm's annual run went virtual last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Under that model, runners can complete the race at anywhere and at any time during a set period.
This year, farm supporters will have until May 21 to complete the 5K.
This year's 5K is especially important for the farm. A fire at the Elliot Street property on March 17 destroyed a barn and killed several farm animals. In the wake of the fire, the farm launched a $400,000 GoFundMe effort. As of Thursday, the farm had raised about $273,000 toward rebuilding after the fire.
