PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN —Just about half of adults in Park Slope are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, new data shows. The 11215 ZIP code — which covers the majority of the neighborhood as well as parts of Gowanus — reached a 50-percent full vaccination rate on Thursday, meaning half of its residents have gotten both doses of the shot against the virus. The milestone comes, predictably, a few weeks after the ZIP code reached a 50-percent partial vaccination rate, meaning half of adults had gotten their first shot. The smaller of Park Slope's ZIP codes, 11217, which covers a northern slice of the neighborhood and Boerum Hill, is a few percentage points from the milestone. 44 percent of residents in that ZIP code had been fully vaccinated as of Thursday. The vaccination rates come as the neighborhood's coronavirus rates continue to trend downward. Just this week, 11215 had the lowest seven-day coronavirus positivity in the borough. On Thursday, 11215 and 11217 were the second and third lowest in Brooklyn, beat only by a few tenths of a percentage point by Brooklyn Heights' 11201 ZIP code. Brooklyn Heights was also one of the only other ZIP codes in Brooklyn that had reached 50-percent full vaccination as of Thursday. Several other Manhattan ZIP codes have reached the milestone. The highest vaccination rates continue to be in wealthy, majority-white ZIP codes, underscoring the struggle the state and city have had to fulfill their goal of reaching neighborhoods hardest-hit by the coronavirus pandemic with vaccines.
