Moncrief Creek Cleanup The St. Johns Riverkeeper says, "Clean water is the lifeblood of the St. Johns River and its tributaries. Our wetlands, forests, riparian zones adjacent to waterways, and aquatic plants filter and cleanse the water and provide the habitat and food sources that sustain healthy plant, fish, and wildlife populations. Unfortunately, the ecological health and integrity of the St. Johns River system is threatened due to inadequate protections and the cumulative impacts of a growing population." We took our first steps towards a more committed plan to assure our creek doesn't further pollute the rivers it flows into. We have a deeper understanding of it's responsibility as well as us humans being the main pollutants. We understand creating a change in materials used for our everyday products is our long term goal, while making properly stewarding what the Earth has made for us is our short term goal at this time. There for the creek needs us to reestablish a sense of community and connection to the earth, its living and our future. So join in! Wear long sleeves, long pants, water-proof boots and can't go wrong with an extra pair of socks. Thunderstorms will cancel this event.
