WHEATON, IL — A West Chicago teen is accused of firing six rounds into a car and hitting a person in the lower back on April 12.
Police say Marco Calderon, 18, of Lee Road, came up to a car in the 200 block of West Pomeroy around 7 p.m. and fired into the vehicle. The gunfire hit one of the car's four occupants.
Calderon is then accused of fleeing in his own car, which was parked nearby. He was taken into custody April 22.
"As long as street gangs continue to plague our communities, they will remain a top priority of my administration" DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.
Berlin added, "People have the right to feel safe in their neighborhoods and by working cooperatively with all law enforcement agencies in DuPage County, we will be able to hold those accountable who terrorize our streets with senseless violence."
Calderon is set to appear in court May 17. He is currently being held in DuPage County Jail on $750,000 bond.
