Exclusive Tour of Historic Bank of Everglades Building with lunch at the famous Rod & Gun Club. This event is limited to only 10 people. It begins with drinks and an illustrated lecture about the history before lunch. The tour of the old Bank of Everglades Building follows and includes visiting the rooms upstairs where the Collier County News (now the Naples Daily News) was first published. Participants will receive a limited-edition framed print by artist Donald Sunshine and a personally signed copy of the new book "A Brief History of the Bank of Everglades Building". The Everglades Society for Historic Preservation is renovating the original Bank of Everglades Building which was completed in 1927. It was the first bank in Collier County and operated until 1962. After that, the building was used as a boarding house and bed & breakfast. I has been generously donated to ESHP and the Society now faces the daunting task of restoring it to its former dignity. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a landmark in this rural city.
