PORTSMOUTH, NH — A Portsmouth man died due to injuries sustained during a crash between a motorcycle and tractor-trailer truck on Tuesday, according to police. Around 2:45 p.m., officers and firefighters were sent to the intersection of Greenland and Griffin roads for a report of a crash. Before arriving, according to Sgt. Jordan Wells of the Portsmouth Police Department, one of the parties "was unresponsive." When they arrived and investigated the accident, police said the motorcycle, being ridden by Todd Young, 31, of Portsmouth, collided with a section of the truck and was pronounced dead. "A section of Greenland Road between Islington Street and Borthwick Avenue was closed for approximately three hours," he said. "Additional officers were called in to assist with traffic control and to maintain emergency response throughout the incident." The crash is still under investigation however speed "is a primary contributing factor," Wells said. Police are not releasing the name of the truck driver who was not injured during the event. Police, the Portsmouth Fire Department, New Hampshire State Police, and the Portsmouth Police Drone Unit and Investigative Division were all involved with the on-scene investigation and work. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Officer Peter Connor at 603-610-7629. Got a news tip? Send it to [email protected].
