Press release from the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System: 4/29/2021 The Woodville Tompkins Technical and Career High School's Healthcare Science Program has received Industry Recertification. Healthcare Science teachers Diann Bennett-Magwood, MD, and Natasha Harris-Haggan, MSN, helm the Patient Care Pathway at Woodville Tompkins and worked hard to accomplish the Healthcare Science Education (HSE) Industry Certification (IC) this school year, 2020-2021. Healthcare Science Education Industry Certification is a standards-based recognition program developed and validated by healthcare professionals. Since 1999, this has been an industry-led program designed to recognize and promote exemplary high school Healthcare Science Education programs, teachers and students. The program is designed to guide and assist teachers to provide documents/evidence supporting the identified standards leading to an exemplary program for students' education in healthcare. Local industry healthcare professionals provide the support and reviews during an On-Site Evaluation for each teacher, program, and school. The healthcare professional team provides a comprehensive review of the program's operational and course standards with interviews with students, counselors and the administrators. They provide validation that the program and teacher are meeting the high standards set to be identified as an Industry Certified Healthcare Science Program. The Award of Distinction was provided by the healthcare professional industry team to the Woodville Tompkins program.
