CHARLOTTE, NC — If you found yourself in an active shooter situation, would you know what to do? Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office is hosting an active shooter survival training session online Thursday that will go through three decisive actions they say should be taken when in harms way: run, hide and fight.
Here are general tips offered by MCSO:
Run — have an escape plan and route established, leave your belongings behind, keep your hands visible Hide — hide out of the active shooter's view, block entry to your hiding place, lock all lockable doors Fight — as a last resort when your life is in imminent danger, attempt to incapacitate the active shooter act with physical aggression, throw items at shooter The April 29 virtual presentation on what to do in an active shooter situation is set to begin at 1 p.m. on MCSO's Facebook page.
