Facilities Technician Full-time Regular Technical Santa Barbara, CA, US Applications are only accepted through this link: The full-time Facilities Technician is responsible for responding to, resolving, and repairing maintenance issues and requests within the Direct Relief Facilities. This is a key position within the organization and will interact with all employees of the Direct Relief team. - Key Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties and responsibilities are those considered to be essential, but do not represent all job functions that may be required to be performed by this position. Other comparable duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, attend to repair and maintenance requests, and communicate with end users to ensure resolution Assure each day’s activities and issues that arise are communicated to the facilities team using approved communication programs and standards Troubleshoot the facilities mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and maintain the appropriate facilities logs Enter and locate work-related information using computer systems such as Work Order Management Systems and facility automated systems. Safely perform repairs of the physical property, electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration and heaters - ensuring all methods, materials and practices meet organization standards and Local and National codes - with little or no supervision. Perform Daily Checks of building and grounds Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines and perform advanced troubleshooting of facilities Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work Follow all safety and security policies and procedures Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries Complete safety training and certifications; Properly store all facilities materials. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect Direct Relief’s assets Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others Support team to reach common goals and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees - Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to read standard blueprints and schematics concerning electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems. Proficiency in one or more of the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, electronic (DDC) systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management Solid knowledge and skills in the safe use of hand and power tools. Basic understanding of engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including devices that interact with such programs. Ability to train and mentor other team members as necessary. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Able to take initiative and work independently Detail oriented Forklift or other light moving equipment experience helpful Valid California driver’s license and ability to drive light duty truck Computer literate (MS Windows applications) Clear background check Clear toxicology screening Physical Demands: Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance Move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping Standing and/or walking for up to 8 hours.
