****PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT**** POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of Parks and Recreation Supervisor participate with team members in performing a variety of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled duties in support of the Parks and Recreation Department; including, but not limited to raking, shoveling, loading, unloading, removing debris and litter, and brush; hand grading trails, slopes and drainage corridors; mow lawns and weeds, clear trails of weeds, trimming shrubs and trees; installation of new landscape; installation of mulch and chips on trails and streets; garbage pickup at recreation facilities; clean restrooms and other facilities; horse and dog waste removal; operate and maintain light vehicles. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT The conditions described herein are representative of those that must be met by an incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this classification. Environment: Outdoor work in all types of weather and temperature conditions including extreme heat and humidity, cold and rain; work in and around heavy traffic conditions and very loud noise of construction equipment; continuous exposure to moving mechanical parts, and vibration from equipment and tools; occasional exposure to hazardous materials and substances including chemicals, blood borne pathogens, and animal bites. Physical: Incumbents in this class must be in good physical condition and able to exert physical strength for prolonged periods of time. Due to the physical nature of this position, the majorities of tasks performed by incumbents involve a combination of two or more simultaneous physical operations requiring but not limited to the following: CONTINUOUS standing, walking, reaching, twisting, stooping, handling, and hearing; FREQUENT bending, twisting, kneeling; lifting and carrying of tools and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.; pushing/pulling of tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs., reaching; lifting and carrying tools and equipment weighing up to 50lbs.; OCCASIONAL sitting, balancing, crouching, crawling, climbing, and carrying. Vision: See in normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to see work orders and service requests, field conditions, equipment dials and gauges.
