Swimming Pool Filter Help

Hi - I need a professional to take a look at my pool filter system. I have a 14K gallon fiberglass in-ground pool, with Hayward Vari-Flo XL Valve, and Hayward 1 HP Super Pool Pump*. Pool works on every setting except 'filter' - full power backwash, rinse, waste - all except filter (normal, everyday setting). Basked doesn't fill up - it is not full throttle - again, just on 'filter' setting. The company that closed my pool put a note in the basket that read: 'return line plugged at union per bad valve(s)', but they are out of business and unreachable. *I got a new pump/housing w/basket, new sand filter valve, replaced some pipes where it looks like it was leaking, etc., snaked return line from skim basket 1/2 way to pump. Nothing has fixed it. I'm pretty handy, so I'm just looking for advice, and I am willing to pay for it. And my sanity. Please get back to me asap.
