Description

We are delighted to welcome members of the public and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, to the Basilica for Mass. The Archdiocese for the Military Services USA will host its annual Pilgrimage and Memorial Mass on Sunday, May 16. The pilgrimage will begin with the availability of the Sacrament of Reconciliation at 3:00 p.m. in the Great Upper Church. Following the Sacrament of Reconciliation and a musical prelude, the Most Rev. Timothy P. Broglio, Archbishop for the Military Services USA, will be the principal celebrant and homilist of the Memorial Mass that begins at 4:30 p.m. Honoring the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces, particularly those who paid the ultimate price for American liberty, the Memorial Mass begins with the posting of the colors and singing of the National Anthem. It concludes with the playing of taps. Due to the restrictions of the government of the District of Columbia, we are required to limit Mass attendance. Please make sure you reserve the correct number of seats for the number of people in your party. We are only able to seat those who are listed on the reservation and are in possession of a ticket. Visitor Guidelines for Entry • All visitors must wear a face covering at all times, except as directed for the reception of Holy Communion. • Entry into the Basilica will be through the front lower level East Entrance (Gift Shop side facing Michigan Avenue) or, before mass, through the East Side Portico Doors. • Visitors must maintain a social distance of 6 feet from others, visit designated areas only, abide by all signage, and follow the direction of Basilica personnel for the health, safety and welfare of all.
