Description

Women in Sustainability (CO Chapter) Volunteer Day with Metro Caring Volunteer with Women in Sustainability on Friday, May 21 from 12:00pm - 3:00pm! During this time, our group will be responsible for sorting incoming food, packing food boxes, and providing general warehouse support. This is a great way to help support those in need, network with other members of the WIS community and get out of the office for an afternoon to give back. BONUS! All volunteers will be able to pack a food box from the warehouse to take home following their shift. Volunteer spots are limited. Volunteer shift requires long periods of standing on cement ground and may be subjected to heavy lifting at times. (Note: Please only RSVP if you live in Colorado and can attend this event in person. If you are no longer available to attend, please notify Women in Sustainability immediately to fill the spot.) Shift Start Time: 5/21/2021 12:00 PM Location: 1100 E 18th Ave Denver, CO 80218 PARKING INFORMATION: Because we are utilizing our parking lot for a food distribution drive-thru, there are no parking options in our parking lot. The best place to park is in any of the St. Joseph Hospital parking garages and then walk over to Metro Caring (about 2 blocks). Parking in the garages is free. You can also try street parking, but with all of the construction in the neighborhood, it's tough. Metro Caring COVID Guidelines: If you have a cough, shortness of breath, or at least two other COVID-19 symptoms (fever, chills, headache, sore throat, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, or new loss of taste or smell) or if you have been exposed to COVID-19, you are not eligible until your quarantine period is over and you have been cleared by a doctor. Please see the CDC guidelines for more information. To ensure safety of others, masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn at all times. Metro Caring will also provide gloves to wear on-site and a place to wash your hands. To increase social distancing and to avoid a complete shut-down of operations if someone does get sick, we ask that volunteers choose a shift (AM, PM, LATE PM, EVE, or SUN) and only sign up for volunteer hours during that shift. Strict separation between shifts is important, so make sure that you do not enter the building except during your shift time.
