If you’ve been considering learning more about home canning, you will great opportunities in Henderson County this summer! During a time when food supply chains are uncertain, knowing how to preserve your own produce has never been more important. If you’ve been considering learning more about home canning, you will great opportunities in Henderson County this summer. The N.C. Cooperative Extension, Henderson County Center will be hosting workshops designed to teach the basics to those new to canning and preserving. You may pick and choose the session you want to attend, or register for all of them! What will You Learn? Family and Consumer Science agent from Henderson County will be leading the workshops to introduce you to topics like: ~Filling jars to the right level ~Choosing the right produce for canning ~Cold and hot jar packing methods ~Pressure cooker safety How long canned foods can safely be stored In-person participants will receive a copy of "So Easy to Preserve" published by the University of Georgia.
