PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD —Prince Georgians no longer need to preregister for the coronavirus vaccine at county-run clinics. Appointments are now available to all locals 16 and up on a first-come, first-served basis. The switch only applies to locations operated by the Prince George's County Health Department, which announced this new policy on Monday. Private providers, like pharmacies, have always followed a similar process. They open timeslots to everybody eligible for the immunization. Residents then head to their websites and search for an available shot. The New Process County-run sites will now use this same system. They previously required locals to sign-up to be notified when an inoculation is ready for them. That preregistration site, mypgc.us/COVIDvaccine, transitioned to an appointment scheduling webpage. Residents can head to that link or call 311 and press # to book their shot. Prince Georgians may also dial the library hotline, visit this website or use the new vaccine locator to find an available inoculation. Locals may not get an appointment on their first try, however, because the county does not have unlimited doses. (Story continues below tweet) Our COVID-19 vaccination clinics are now open registration! If you are not vaccinated and live or work in the County, you can schedule your own first-dose appointment at https://t.co/Y9sj8yyPKN. If you need assistance, call 311 and press #. #ProudtoBeProtected #PGCOVID pic.twitter.com/LzOjjg5FGz— Prince George's County Health Dept. Many of these facilities have limited walk-up times when appointments aren't required, however. Hospitals still require preregistration through their individual websites.
