Daily coronavirus case numbers in Colorado have surged over the past several weeks, state public health officials said. Between Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon, 1,139 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Colorado. As of Tuesday, 505,268 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the state among more than 2,893,108 people who have been tested since the outbreak began, health officials confirmed. Around 27,554 people have been hospitalized. At least half of all new cases are variants, public health officials said. More than 1.7 million — around 30 percent of the state's population — are fully immunized. Around 38 percent of the state's critical care ventilators were in use as of Tuesday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
