Description
We are looking for someone to come to the house and do a R&R on an oil pan on my dads antique car.
The car is a 1949 Packard and the engine is a straight 8. We believe that the oil pump pickup tube has come loose inside the oil pan.
The job is fairly straight forward, jack up the car, remove the bolts, the oil pan gasket is glued on with Permatex so getting the pan to dislodge will be the hardest part, then the oil pan will slide back and down. The oil pickup tube is supposed to be held on with a cotter pin so we need the oil pan removed to investigate. Of course the reinstallation will require the gasket material to be scraped off from the oil pan and the crankcase flange surface. We have the new oil pan gasket.
I would do it my self however I live in AZ so we are wanting to find someone who has some experience on old straight 8 engines.
You will need to bring a large hydraulic floor jack, long sturdy jack stands (as the car is in the driveway at the house), and tools.
