Press release from the Francis Howell School District: 04/28/2021 Barnwell Middle School students Cameron Burris, Luke Hollinger and Danny Seals outperformed 355 teams in the Stock Market Game's Missouri Middle School Division this fall, earning second place overall. "To be second place felt pretty good," Seals said. "It had us excited to come to school every day to see what place we were in." Teams started with $100,000 in fake money that was placed into a simulation environment that acted as the real stock market, in real-time. The Barnwell students researched, strategized and followed the stock market to make investments, and grew their original amount of simulation money by $21,601.44 in three months. "This year, I learned a lot about how the stock market flows and runs," said Burris. The Stock Market Game is an online simulation of the global capital markets that engages students grades 4-12 in the world of economics, investing and personal finance. The organization touts that it has prepared nearly 20 million students for financially independent futures. "I am so proud of 'The Noodle Gang' and their efforts to be successful this year in the Stock Market Game," said Heather Tomicich, gifted education specialist at Barnwell. "They have built on their previous knowledge from participating last year and have increased their strategies on what stocks to track and invest in. Their overall equity during the simulation was very impressive." The Stock Market Game was hosted by Security Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Foundation, an organization that connects students to the global economy with virtual investing and real-world learning.    This press release was produced by the Francis Howell School District.
