NORRISTOWN, PA — A new type of vaccine clinic is opening up its doors this week in Montgomery County. The county will open a walk-up clinic that does not require pre-registration in Norristown. It's located at St. John's Episcopal Church on 521 Church Street. The recently unpaused, single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be the sole vaccine administered at the clinic. Federal officials say the vaccine is safe after they temporarily halted its administration due to concerns about extremely rare side effects. The new clinic will operate on Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This will coincide with the weekly food distribution services run through that site for individuals experiencing homelessness. Commissioners Val Arkoosh and Ken Lawrence will receive the vaccine at this site as it opens Wednesday, in an effort to build public confidence in J&J. Wednesday is the first day the county is restarting administration of J&J. Montgomery County now has numerous clinics open countywide, including multiple efforts in Norristown, plus clinics in Pottstown, Willow Grove, Blue Bell, and elsewhere. To see a full list of operating clinics and to register for a vaccine, see the county's website here.
