LA GRANGE, IL — After a year off, the La Grange Carnival is returning June 4-6. But changes are planned because of the pandemic. On Monday, the Village Board approved the temporary closure of two streets for the event. To increase opportunities for social distancing, the La Grange Business Association, which holds the event, said it will not have a music stage, sponsor booths or alcohol sales at the carnival. Also, the group said food vendors will be minimized. "The good news is we're going to have this thing," Trustee Bill Holder said at the village meeting. Village President Mark Kuchler agreed. He said the business association could use the money from the event because the last year has been tough on the group and its members. The carnival is planned for 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. June 4, noon to 10 p.m. June 5 and noon to 9 p.m. June 6. The board approved temporarily closing Harris Avenue from La Grange Road to Ashland Avenue and Madison Avenue north of Cossitt School to Harris Avenue. Windy City Amusements is handling the carnival.
