LA Deputy Hospitalized In Motorcycle Crash Involving Semi Truck

SANTA CLARITA, CA — A collision involving a semi truck and a motorcycle seriously injured a sheriff's deputy Wednesday in Santa Clarita. The crash was reported at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday near Creekside Avenue and McBean Parkway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The deputy, identified as Chad Perrigo, was rushed to a hospital in critical but stable condition, Sheriff Alex Villanueva said "Apparently, there's a semi truck, 18-wheeler, did a left-hand turn right in front and failed to yield for the oncoming traffic, the motorcycle, and it was a head-on collision," Villanueva said. Footage from AIR7 HD showed the wreckage, where the deputy's motorcycle was pinned against the front of the big rig. "It's going to be a long road to recovery," the sheriff said. "Our thoughts and prayers to him and his family. ... It's again illustrative of the dangers of this job." The City News Service contributed to this report.
