Rubbish Fire Spreads To Brush In The Sepulveda Basin

LOS ANGELES, CA — A rubbish fire in the Sepulveda Basin spread to nearby brush Wednesday evening, scorching about one acre before firefighters were able to contain it. No injuries or structural damage was reported. Firefighters will remain on the scene to extinguish any hot spots Wednesday night, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters were on the scene in Van Nuys battling the blaze, driven by 12 mph winds, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange. Smoke from the blaze could be seen for miles around the San Fernando Valley. Shortly before 6:30 p.m., crews were called to the 15700 block of West Burbank Boulevard to battle the fire burning amid dense brush.
