Energy Efficiency Installation Technician A full time position is available for an Energy Efficiency Installation Technician with Community Housing Opportunities Corporation (CHOC), located in Vacaville CA. Job Description: Perform weatherization installations to low income areas of Contra Costa, Napa, Yolo, Solano, San Joaquin and Sacramento County to extend energy conservation opportunities. Install all applicable measures for increased energy conservation of the home. Responsibilities will include performing energy assessment inspection of the home, processing of all necessary paperwork and installation of all weatherization measures. Duties: Under the production supervision, the Weatherization specialist will perform the following duties: Inspect home to determine the weatherization measures needed to maximize the energy efficiency of the home. Installation of lightbulbs, showerheads, hardwired light fixtures, microwaves, water heater blankets, door weather stripping, caulking, door shoes, door hardware, glass replacement, door replacement, amongst other measures. Various installations such as evaporative coolers, venting, and occasionally attic insulation. Train for Natural Gas Appliance Safety Tests as required. Attend regular weekly staff meetings and other support functions as assigned by the Supervisor. Adhere to installation standards manual. Other duties as assigned. Desired Attributes: Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or drawings. Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and staff both on and off duty as defined by agency ethical codes. Ability to use effective judgment in crisis situations Ability to solve problems and resolve conflicts effectively Ability to show care and concern for other employees and clients served. Ability to build lasting relationships with customers by showing your confidence in your skills. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent High School Diploma or equivalent Some College or Trade School desired Background in construction, electrical, or plumbing and heating Physical Demands: Frequently: Standing, Walking, Bending, Lifting up to 25 pounds, Carrying, Seeing, Speaking, Hearing, Kneeling, Squatting, Climbing, Twisting. Occasionally: Sitting, Stooping, Lifting up to 50 pounds, Pushing/Pulling, Climbing, and Crawling. Certificates and licenses: Valid California Driver's license Insurability on corporate policy Other: Must pass a background check Must have reliable transportation Must successfully complete training at Stockton PGE training facilities CHOC is a community development organization that has distinguished itself as an affordable housing provider for over 30 years.
