ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst police responded to a single report of a man with a gun about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elmhurst University, according to a statement by police and the school.
The campus was placed on lockdown while police and university security conducted a "systematic" search of the campus, the statement said. No suspect was found, and the university lifted the order at 6 p.m., police said. The investigation continues.
About 4 p.m., the school said on its website the armed man was seen near Niebuhr Hall. "Seek shelter in locked room. Remain in place until ALL CLEAR," the school said.
