At Elim, we support children and adults with developmental disabilities in leading their fullest God-given lives through a variety of services. These include: pre-school to high school special education, therapeutic and educational programs for students with an autism spectrum disorder, vocational training and life skill opportunities for young adults 18-22; day programs for adults with disabilities; and learning programs as an organizational and community catalyst for change. Be the good in this world by helping others while you help yourself. As a Paraprofessional at Elim, you'll assist students with developmental disabilities achieve more, learn more and grow. You'll help them reach educational goals and you'll implement individual educational plans under the guidance of the classroom teacher. Education: Paraprofessional, Substitute Teacher or Professional Educator License required Requirements: * Must be willing to complete training assigned which includes Safety Care. We train you! * Learn to operate equipment and devices that students may require.* Ability to interact effectively and sensitively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.* Ability to implement behavior management techniques as instructed by the teacher and/or behavior therapist Responsibilities: * Assist students with achieving educational goals and implementing individual educational plans under the guidance of the teacher* Implement behavior plans under the supervision of the teacher and the behavior team for the purpose of reinforcing documented objectives* Assist students with physical needs for the purpose of maintaining their health and hygiene (bathroom, change clothes, change diapers, feed, groom and position)* Follow classroom procedure and protocol to assist in creating a safe and positive learning environment* Complete required documentation on students progress including data collection* Employ effective strategies to assist with communication * Instruction on behavioral strategies, communication techniques and assistive technology will be provided Hours: M, W, Th, F 8:30am - 2:45pm , T 8:30 - 3:15Includes 6 week summer school session Wages: School para pay of $15.53/hr ($12.42/hr paid year round over breaks and holidays) Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, Life insurance, Flexible Spending Program, Retirement Plan
