CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — California Highway Patrol Contra Costa Area is investigating a freeway shooting reported Monday on state Highway 4 in Concord.
A woman reported that around 11:45 a.m. she was driving on westbound SR-4 at Interstate Highway 680 when a white sedan pulled up alongside her car and tried to get her attention, the CHP said.
She kept driving and heard several gunshots as the car drove past her, she told the CHP.
The victim's car was struck with bullets and her daughter suffered a minor abrasion to her head as a result of the shooting, the CHP said.
The victim drove to a nearby hospital where her daughter was treated for the injury and staff notified law enforcement.
"The victim described the white sedan occupied by two black male adults and the passenger firing the gun," the CHP said.
The investigation was ongoing as of late Monday night.
"We are thankful the little girl and her mother did not suffer more serious injuries," the CHP said.
The CHP asked anyone with information regarding the shooting, the white sedan or the people in the sedan to call Contra Costa CHP at 925-646-4980.
