BERKELEY, CA —Patrols of the Berkeley Marina led to the arrests of firearms suspects on consecutive days, police said.
In the most recent incident, officers conducting a security check the Seawall Drive area Monday at around 2:50 a.m. located two occupants of a vehicle parked in an unauthorized zone that led to the bust, police said.
An officer found a loaded handgun in the back seat later determined to be an illegal "ghost gun" made of polymer along with a 33-round magazine.
A 45-year-old Oakland man and 23-year-old woman (no address) were both arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded and concealed handgun, police said.
An officer during a search of the man found more than two grams of cocaine according to police.
The man was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and being a felon in possession of a firearm according to police.
The case followed a similar incident the previous day.
Officers conducting a security check Saturday at around 3:10 a.m. found two occupants of a vehicle also parked in an unauthorized zone.
An officer found a loaded gun in the backseat of the vehicle that belonged to the passenger, a 22-year-old Oakland man, according to police.
The man was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded and concealed firearm, police said.
