There was no UWS educational institution in the top 25 of the publication's best public high schools in New York state. Fiorello H. Laguardia High School ranked number 26 in New York and number 243 nationally in the list of U.S. News Best Public High School for 2021, an annual ranking of how high schools compare at the national, state, and local level. It was the top-ranked public high school on the Upper West Side. The iconic performing arts school has a long list of famous alumni, including Adrien Brody, Jennifer Aniston, Timothee Chalamet, Ansel Elgort, and Nicki Minaj. Beacon High School was the only other Upper West Side school to earn a spot in the ranking's top 100 New York public high schools.
