APPLY ONLINE VIA FACEBOOK: Job Description The Heavy Equipment Operator will serve as a SNC’s all-around compost production expert. His or her job includes receiving loads of various approved feedstocks, moving material to the appropriate staging areas, preparing, testing, and completing various end products including compost, delivering products to customers, working with management to develop and implement best practices for efficiency and quality, all while maintaining organizational and regulatory compliance. The Site Operator is a hard-working, energetic professional who does not mind wearing multiple hats. Experienced in handling a wide range of physical and technical support related tasks and able to work independently with little or no supervision. Well organized, flexible and enjoys the challenges of supporting a staff of diverse people and roles in a growing business. Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to): • SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S RESPONSIBILITY. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING UNSAFE - SAY SOMETHING IMMEDIATELY! • Ensure TCEQ regulatory compliance at all times, without exception • Receive loads of various approved feedstocks • Ensure tickets and manifest logs are completed accurately; coordinate with Office Staff • Place feedstock materials in appropriate staging areas, windrows, and/or finished product areas • Turn, aerate, hydrate, and monitor compost windrows as needed to produce premium quality compost • Load sold products into trailers/trucks for customers • Drive delivery truck to customer's location • Work with Office Staff to ensure timecards & payroll is completed accurately • Complete required testing of materials and log appropriately • Monitor and maintain required inventory of needed supplies (fuel, oil, DEF, inoculant, polymer, etc.) • Remain updated on technical and professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, joining professional associations, building networks with fellow professionals, and reviewing of industry publications • Participate actively in the planning and execution of company events • Ensure site efficiency is maintained by carrying out planning and execution of layouts and site systems • Adhere to standards and promote activities that enhance operational procedures • Complete preventative maintenance of all equipment and log completion accordingly • Maintain site cleanliness – remove trash daily, keep grass cut, trees trimmed, plants watered, roads smooth, etc. • Other tasks as may be assigned Qualifications Include: • Strong work ethic • CDL Required • Ability to lift and move heavy items and objects • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills • Ability to operate heavy equipment • Ability to operate farm equipment • Willingness to learn new skills • Welding skills preferred • Minor mechanic skills required • Ability to obtain TCEQ MSW B Supervisor License • Some computer skills required for logging and reporting • Intrapersonal skills required as this role could easily advance to a leadership role Second Nature Compost is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
