Duties/Responsibilities: • Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle • Drive vehicles with an extremely heavy Gross Vehicle Weight • Pick up and safely transport steel products to the intended destination • Ensure contents are properly secured in a truck, flatbed, to prevent damage or injury • Obtain signatures to obtain/complete deliveries • Stay on a predetermined route and ensure timely transportation and delivery. • Communicate with the manager as needed • Confirm that the contents of each shipment load match the manifest document • Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip • Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean • Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.) • Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered • Adhere to company rules and regulations • Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive in according to the weather/road conditions • Comply with ICC and DOT regulations • Make safety a priority at all times Required Skills/Abilities: • Excellent driving record and health card required • Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Able to work with little to no supervision, and depending on oneself to get things done. There is always work to be done. Driving is not the only responsibility. Must be able to operate a Hi-Lo. Be able to load your own trailer, lift 60lbs and get on and off the trailer. Organize raw materials in the warehouse. Prepare dunnage. Palletize and bundle products.
