Canal Auto Clinic, located at 182 Rte 6A in Sandwich, is a new repair shop. We are scheduled to officially open May 1, 2021; however, we have been performing some duties for the past month. We are looking to hire immediately! Current graduate of an auto tech program, soon-to-be graduate or even someone without that experience but has a strong desire to learn - all are encouraged to apply! This is an excellent opportunity to help develop and grow a startup in an area eagerly anticipating us! Entry-level Automotive Mechanic - Summary Requires the ability to perform light maintenance and repairs which include lube, oil, and filter changes, balancing and rotation of tires and flushing cooling systems and is an entry-level position Entry-level Automotive Mechanic - Essential Duties (but not limited to) · Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards · Sells lubrication, safety inspection, and other related services. Maintains related records on regular customers, following up periodically with telephone, mail, or personal reminders · Inspects vehicle fluid levels, replenishes as necessary · Checks tire pressure and add air if necessary · Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts · Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer · Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended · Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time · Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order · Road tests vehicles · Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events · Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins · Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor · Ensures that customers’ cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle · Keeps shop area neat and clean · Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received · Understands keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-To-Know, etc. · Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner · Reports any safety issues immediately to management · Other tasks as assigned Entry Level Automotive Mechanic - Qualifications · Excellent communication skills ( including listening, speaking) · Ability to read, speak and understand English · Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form · Ability to multi-task · Ability to work alone, self-motivate, and manage one’s own time · Team player with a positive attitude · Computer literate (MS Word, Advanced Excel, Outlook) · Ability to prioritize · Deadline-oriented · Research skills · General math skills · Basic knowledge of dealership operations and/or office/clerical experience Entry-Level Automotive Mechanic - Education and/or experience · No prior experience or training · High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience · One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience · Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Entry Level Automotive Mechanic - Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
