Farm Specs: Food Forest (Fruit trees/permaculture) 1.5 acres and market style garden 5,000square feet Animals: Currently: 10-12 chickens Arriving late summer 2021: 1 mini horse & 2 pygmy goats Schedule: 6 days/week Salary: 45K Reports to: Estate Manager Candidates should live in close proximity to the farm location (or be willing to relocate) to allow for flexibility and responding to environmental needs; for opening up each morning with animal care, and “putting animals to bed” in early evening and before dark. - - - - - - - - Agricultural responsibilities include but are not limited to: Preparing and maintaining land for planting including composting Complete care of crops - keep fields watered, fertilized and free of weeds that compete with the fruits, vegetables and plants; any necessary pest control; other required special treatment or care of any plant or vegetable Harvesting Processing of harvested fruits and vegetables: thorough washing and proper storage and set in designated locations for pick up and delivery Responsible for upkeep of equipment and tools and agricultural buildings Record keeping/yields/significant observations May be required to head up weekly contribution, attendance and sales at local farmers market (future) Animal Care Overall health and safety of the animals Daily feed and water Wake up/ put to bed (sun up and sun down) Mucking daily as needed Keeping food and supply inventory ordered/stocked Collecting eggs on certain days Logs and record keeping on health, production, any changes of note Requirements fluent with English language Good communication skills Must know how to drive a small tractor Have experience with soil and crop rotation Be familiar and constant study of florida crop seasons/optimal growing conditions Clean background check US Citizen
