Piano Workshop w/ Melody Bober ALL AGES Join composer/educator Melody Bober for piano tips, demonstrations, and live performance feedback. Join piano teachers, students, and enthusiasts for a special opportunity as composer and educator Melody Bober highlights practice and teaching tips, demonstrates her own compositions, and offers live feedback to a group of local student performers. Schedule: 9–10AM – Practice Tips and Suggestions for Musicians – Learn how to best utilize practice time and make that time as productive as possible. 10:15–11:30AM – Melody Bober Music Showcase . . . New and Favorite Repertoire by Melody Bober – Hear Melody demonstrate and perform her own repertoire, which will also be available for purchase. 11:30AM–12:30PM – Lunch – Lunch on your own. (Lunch will be available for purchase on-site at the Downbeat Diner.) 12:45–2PM Student Master Class – Students (8–10) will have the opportunity to perform for Melody in a recital setting, playing a prepared Melody Bober piece. While selections can be any level, Melody suggests they be from the National Federation list. (Selection assistance available.) Meet Melody BoberAs a composer, Melody Bober enjoys creating motivational piano pieces that foster her students’ understanding and love of music. Melody graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign with a bachelor’s degree in music education. She later received a master of arts degree in piano performance from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Melody credits much of her success to her influential teachers, who include Joel Shapiro and Andrew Froelich (piano), Mary Hoffman (music education), and Tony Caramia (jazz). An active church pianist and accompanist, Melody has also held the position of church music director. In addition to teaching piano in her private studio, Melody’s music teaching experience includes 20 years in public schools and two years at the university level. A dynamic clinician and innovative composer, Melody is in great demand at conventions and workshops for piano teachers across North America. She resides in Minnesota with her husband, Jeff.
