Description

Story Mornings are to create connections between founders to give inspiration and excitement to the community. Join us on the third floor at Story Louisville for our monthly morning series: Story Mornings. Story has been a pioneer in providing unique coworking spaces for startups to plant their seeds and network within the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Louisville. We use Story Mornings as a way to give back to our community by diving deep into the journey of local and regional founders. This event will include complimentary coffee and Elixir Kombucha on tap. We will provide socially distanced seating and 25% capacity for the space. Mask required. RSVP today to hold your spot! About Dr. Lydia Henshaw: Dr. Lydia Henshaw, CEO and Founder Lydia holds an undergraduate degree in Marketing, an MBA in International Business and a Doctorate in Organizational Behavior. She has a strong background of developing and commercializing technical innovations across various industries including Federal Government innovations for the Department of Defense in support of Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief and Irregular Warfare efforts. Lydia built and sold an industry-changing digital filing startup for organic farmers, used globally by 65% of the USDA Certified organic industry today. Following a major life change (becoming a mother), Lydia realized it was time to settle into a more predictable profession - the consumer goods industry. She took a job at Procter & Gamble as Head of Product to lead digital product development teams who built and commercialized technical innovations for millions of consumer households across 14 different countries, and digitally connected devices like electronic toothbrushes and razors for Oral-B and Gillette. The Moxie Girl story began in Spring 2019. As Lydia was leading teams building software for global brands at Procter & Gamble, she sought support increasing her confidence as a leader. She met Heather, Moxie Girl's co-founder, who came alongside her as a peer and helped her set goals and put a plan together. Heather's experience studying at Duke's Integrative Medicine Health Coaching Program helped guide conversations. At the same time, Lydia was working with brands like Always and Tampax. During this work, she learned about how hard it is for young women to find their footing in this world. Today, young women have more options, more to navigate, more things fighting for attention. Millions of young women face doubts about their own abilities. They have the ability within them, yet could benefit by having a peer support as a listening ear. One day in early 2019, Lydia asked, "What if we can improve a girl's mental health, right in the palm of her hand?". Lydia left her full-time job as Head of Product at Proctor and Gamble and started on Moxie Girl right away.
