We are hosting a modified redpoint bouldering climbing competition, followed up by an onsight round for finalists. About this Event We are hosting a JCCA modified redpoint bouldering climbing competition followed up by an onsight round for finalists. Registration includes a t-shirt* , a goody bag, and a raffle ticket for each competitor. - Registration will close on Friday, 5/14 at noon. - *Athletes MUST sign up by 5/5 at midnight to guarantee receiving a competitor shirt! NOTE: Due to a late start in the season, there is no prerequisite to compete in this competition/championship, it is open to any and all! COMPETITION INFORMTATION - The qualifier sessions will be in modified redpoint format and competitors will have 6 boulder problems. Read more on this format here. - Climbers will have 2 hours to climb the boulders in their category and will be self judging, with a physical scorecard. - The top 6 competitiors in each category will be announced as finalists and they will move onto a finals round in onsight format, with 3 boulders per category (except for the youngest category, they will only have 1 final boulder). COVID PRECAUTIONS - Absolutely no one is permitted in the gym except for competitors, coaches, and staff. Parents and siblings will only be allowed in if they have purchased spectator tickets. - Social distancing is highly encouraged, and mask wearing will be strictly enforced. - Entry protocol: Climbers must have a mask on before entering. The mask must cover the nose and mouth, and must stay on the entire time they are in the gym (please click here to read Summit's guidelines on acceptable masks). Please self screen for COVID symptoms, and stay home if you are experiencing any. SPECTATING Spectator spots for the qualifier round will be limited, in order to comply by our facility's capacity constraints, so grab them while they're available! First come first serve! $20/per ticket, entry includes access to food, beverages and snacks that will be available in our outdoor seating area. Please be ready to present the email confirmation of your ticket, for entry into the event. Please be aware, spectators will be restricted to viewing areas, as to prevent interference with the climbers and with the flow of the competitors. Note: These spectator spots are NOT required/not applicable to the one parent/guardian that is allowed to accompany each 8 & under competitor. For finals, finalists will be allowed to have two guests of their choice attend/watch the finals, free of charge. (Note: Spectators for finals can arrive for check in starting at 4:40pm) CATEGORIES Competitors will be broken up by age and by birth year for placement, and will compete in sessions divided by gender. The age category breakdown is as follows by birth year: Born in 2012 or later (youngest) - this category is allowed to be accompanied by ONE parent, for the duration of the competition. Born in 2010-2011 Born in 2007-2009 Born in 2004-2006 Born in 2003 or before (oldest) SCHEDULE Climbers must arrive promplty for check in as the 30 minute window includes their time for warm up, and they must be present for a rules meeting, which will be held 10-15 minutes prior to the start of their session. Qualifier Session 1: GIRLS - 9am-11am - A Raffle will follow the session, for all session participants - - Finalists will be announced, top 6 competitiors for each category - Qualifier Session 2: BOYS - 12pm-2pm - A Raffle will follow the session, for all session participants - - Finalists will be announced, top 6 competitiors for each category - Finals: BOYS & GIRLS - Check in will start at 4pm, giving finalists time to warm up and go through a rules meeting. (Note: Spectators for finals can arrive for check in starting at 4:40pm) - Finals will start at 5pm. - The finals round will be followed by an in-person award ceremony, announcing the podium winners.
