PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN — Another block on Fifth Avenue will transform into an Open Street starting this weekend, the BID has announced.
The Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District will add 15th to 16th street on the corridor to its Open Street starting Saturday, marking the fourth stretch of the road to open to pedestrians and businesses as the successful program returns for its second season.
The BID started closing off certain blocks to traffic on Saturdays on March 13 so neighbors can play, dine and shop in the warm weather.
At the time, they said extensions would come in April and May should the organization raise enough money through fundraisers it had set up to help run the program. The BID is also hoping to extend the hours of its Open Streets program to Sundays, likely in July or August.
Here's the full list of the current Open Street locations, which are open on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.:
Dean to Prospect Sterling to Berkeley President to 3rd 10th to 13th15th to 16th (starting Saturday)
