Traffic Detail Targets Speeding, Unsafe Driving Behaviors: FHP

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Drivers on I-75 in Manatee and Sarasota counties have an extra reason to slow down and focus on their driving behaviors Tuesday. The Florida Highway Patrol has teamed up with the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office and North Port Police Department to conduct a traffic enforcement detail on that stretch of the highway through 3:30 p.m., FHP said in a news release. The purpose of the detail is to increase traffic safety awareness and to deter driving behaviors that contribute to traffic crashes, FHP said. Traveling on I75 through Sarasota & Manatee County? The traffic detail started at 7:30 a.m. The first three drivers stopped were clocked at going 100, 91 and 86 miles per hour, respectively, FHP tweeted. The speed limit in this section of I-75 is 70 miles per hour. FHP asks the public to report aggressive and unsafe drivers by dialing *FHP (*347).
