NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — Pasco County sheriff's deputy have arrested a New Port Richey man accused of domestic violence against a woman and a 6-year-old boy.
Deputies were called to the home of Michael Anderson, 36, Friday afternoon, after receiving a report of shots fired. They were told that Anderson had gotten into a verbal argument with the woman he lived with for 17 years and had gone behind his home in the Moon Lake area and began firing guns.
Two days before, the woman told deputies that Anderson had become physically violent with her and her 6-year-old son.
The woman said he pushed her, smashed her hand in the door several times and kicked her.
Seeing this, the child jumped on and began punching Anderson, so his mother could escape. Deputies said Anderson pushed the child into a dresser and hit him in the face with a phone charger.
Anderson surrendered to deputies. He's been charged with child abuse and domestic battery.
